Launch Timeline

How much time should you allow for launching a new environment with Pure Charity tools?

Site launch without data transfer:

5-6 weeks prior to announcement (Site planning and foundation):

Finalize design decisions, plan your sitemap and assign roles for populating content and responsibility for handling the technical pieces such as DNS changes and hosting.

Make sure the domain is purchased and that you have a regular and test environment hosting available for setup.

Provide images, graphic assets, and content for the pages.

List core site function requirements.

4-5 weeks prior to announcement (Site development):
Build out any custom code, content, install plugins, connect all dependent components.

3 weeks prior to announcement (Final implementation review) :
Review the site for any refinements, adjustments, etc.

2 weeks prior to announcement (Final quality assurance) :
All final code, design, images, graphic assets should have already been completed and verified.
Make sure all of your fundraisers, trips, sponsorships, etc are ready in your test environment and that things are just the way you want them. Share with team members or close friends to get some feedback and allow for last minute changes. Links, spelling, and form submissions should be double checked for accuracy to allow for last minute adjustments.

1 week prior to announcements (Ready to go live):
The testing setup has been verified, is solid, and is ready for the move to the final production host.
Site content moved from the testing environment to the production host for final review.

Site launch with data transfer:

8-12 weeks
If you are transferring
ahead work with the development team to set up a plan for moving data and coordinating the necessary transfers.

See the import guide for ordering of the transferred data and loading.
